LEGAL ASSISTANT – CIVIL LITIGATION

 

Madorin Snyder LLP is a full service law firm based in Kitchener, Ontario and serving clients throughout Ontario.   Over the last 60 years we have maintained our reputation as specialists in a number of areas of the law including family and employment law and the defense of insurance claims, professionals, municipalities and manufacturers. 

 

We require an  individual with a general background and experience in Civil Litigation Law to join a busy practice.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Preparing legal documents (applications, affidavits and etc.), from written, oral and dictated instructions and precedents.
  • Drafting routine correspondence on behalf of the lawyer.
  • File organization and maintenance of files in Primafact.
  • Maintaining an effective diary system in ACL
  • Scheduling the lawyer's calendar.
  • Liaison with clients and opposing Counsel.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience
  • Strong computer knowledge in the following programs: MS Word, ACL, Primafact, PC Law and SpeechExec.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with clients, lawyers and staff;
  • Proficient with the Rules of Civil Procedure;
  • Knowledge of SABS would be beneficial
  • Ability to work in a fast paced high volume environment
  • Must be organized, thorough and have high attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of team
  • Successful completion of a related post-secondary education program is required.

We require an  individual with experience in Family and Litigation Law to join a busy practice.

  • Preparing legal documents (applications, affidavits, separation agreements etc.), from written, oral and dictated instructions and precedents.
  • Preparing financial statements and net family property statements.
  • Drafting routine correspondence on behalf of the lawyer.
  • Scheduling the lawyer's calendar.
  • Liaison with clients, opposing Counsel and court staff.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience;
  • Strong computer knowledge in the following programs: MS Word, Divorcemate, ACL, Primafact, PC Law and SpeechExec;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with clients, lawyers and staff;
  • Ability to work in a fast paced high volume environment;
  • Must be organized, thorough and have high attention to detail;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of team; and
  • Successful completion of a related post-secondary education program is required
