Law Clerks and Administrative Assistants

Commercial Real Estate and Corporate Law Clerk - Contract Position (8 months)

 

We require an individual with Corporate and Commercial Real Estate experience to join our busy practice.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Working on commercial real estate files from start to finish;
  • Reading and interpreting title searches;
  • Drafting and coordinating necessary documents required for closing;
  • Preparing final reports;
  • Commercial lending experience would be an asset
  • Working on incorporations, amendments, amalgamations, asset/share purchases and sales
  • Meeting strict deadlines;
  • Problem solving with minimal supervision;
  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of three (3) years' experience
  • Strong computer knowledge in the following programs: MS Office, Fast Company, Teraview, Cyberbahn, and PC Law. Experience with Unity would be an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with clients, lawyers, mortgage lenders, and staff;
  • Ability to work in a fast paced high volume environment
  • Must be organized, thorough and have high attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of team

Corporate Law Clerk - Contract Position (12 months)

 

We require an individual with a general background and experience in Corporate, Wills and Estates to join a busy practice.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Registering, amending, renewing and cancelling business names and partnerships together with preparation of documents to authorize same;
  • Preparation of documents for incorporations, amendments, dissolutions, amalgamations, and corporate reorganizations;
  • Minute Book administration;
  • Preparing and drafting Wills and Powers of Attorney;
  • Administration of Estates, including probate type applications and estate accounting;
  • Preparation of Estate Information Returns;
  • Liaises with executors for particulars of deceased and assets of estates;
  • Attends to filings;
  • Asset and Share sale/purchase transactions.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of two (2) years' experience
  • Strong computer knowledge in the following programs: MS Word, Fastco, Estate-a-Base, Unity, PPSA registration systems, and PC Law.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with clients, lawyers and staff;
  • Ability to work in a fast paced high volume environment occasionally under tight timelines;
  • Must be organized, and meticulous with attention to detail;
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment;
  • Possess a strong aptitude for working with numbers;
  • Successful Completion of a related post-secondary education program is required;
  • Experience in real estate transactions would be an asset.
